| Personally I cannot wait! Not that the D300 that I currently use is bad, but rather I need a replacement for the D200 I use as backup. |

| Kev - Do you think the Fuji equivalent would come in less expensive than the Nikon D400? |

| the fuji will always be higher. it depends on the sensor really. the market has shown that its willing to pay a premium, but not more than $300-$500. fuji of course is usually asking for $500-$1000. thus they do not sell ahd fuji ends up fire sale-ing them.
but fuji needs to add resolution and a lot of it. fuji has 3 typs of sensors. the HR, SR, and EXR.
the HR is high resolution, its a basic sensor like everyone else uses. thus a 14mp sensor is 14mp, the only advantage is built in fuji colors and the hexagonal shaped sensors.
the SR sensor is the dual pixel sensor with wider DR. currently its a 6.17x6.17 or 12.34mp sensor. so you have a 6.17mp in resolution but 12.34mp for DR. if fuji was to use this they need at least a 8x8mp sensor and thus it would cost the same as a d400, not a money maker camera. a 10x10mp might sell, but they really need a 12x12 in a crop camera. in a FF that thing needs to be at least 14x14 to 20x20mp for resolution.
the EXR sensor fuji tried to fix the major flaw of the SR sensor. that is, its a 12.34 mp sensor, why cant i use all 12mp's for resolution is standard DR mode. thus a 12.34mp sensor is 12.34 only in standard DR mode but 6.17 in wide DR. to use this in a dslr they once again need 10mp in wide mode or higher.
dslr crop cameras come with 10-16mp res, thus the fuji needs to have twice the mp's to make it work. this is where the cost comes into play. so lets say fui makes a 24/12 exr crop camera and the cost is $300-$500 over the d400, it will sell. but there are heavy reports that nikon has in the past dictated pricing to fuji ir other issues have come up.
all i know is back in nov 2007 i sat a test fuji s6 and a print from that camera. this was had a sr sensor and i have yet to see the body it used from nikon. it was rumored to be more than 10mp in true resolution. |

They keep coming out with shit with video added and no other features and a 12mp sensor when the other guys are at 15 18 21 etc. Getting tired of the same size sensor ----------------------Cafe Nikon----------------------- ---- Eero Photographies des femmes pour les hommes.
